Artist's Statement

I’m passionate with the ability of photography to give different interpretations of reality. Viewpoints that may reveal a harmony that I find, many times hidden, all around us. I enjoy the way photography allows me to venture inside and beyond reality, while using fragments of reality itself. I feel grateful for this creative freedom, and sometimes I see it just as a game I play.

The whole process of shooting, editing, and contemplating the image is also a challenge for my perception, feelings, and senses. Photography helps me deal with all these aspects of myself. Somehow makes sense out of all this “in me” and all this “out there” and unifies them.

Although I have some specific projects in progress, many times I like to go shooting outdoors without a certain image or idea in mind. I try to be a receptive observer, allowing my surroundings to present the visual stimulus to me and then work on it.

I prefer harsh directional morning light. I love the way strong light and deep shadows interact. Many times I end up shooting by the seaside where I' m drawn by the reflections of the environment and the light itself on the water.

By sharing my images I just propose another viewpoint, hope to facilitate the viewer to see in an alternative way and maybe share this sense of beauty. I also enjoy the feedback I may have from viewers. Their insight into and translation of an image may reveal to me aspects of it I had previously not been aware of. So I also share this perceptual ability, this freedom to interpret, which after all is at the core of human uniqueness.
